bts Group are seeking to recruit a utility Arboriculture Auditor to support our NGED contract in Telford and surrounding area's.

A full time role, reporting to the Senior Contract Manager.

Core responsibilities include:

· Undertake Desktop, Survey and Post Cut audits of works completed by operational staff

· Ensure completed works are carried out to the required standard

· Reporting findings to relevant managers and operatives

· Record keeping

· Obtaining access and egress from land owners

· To maintain a clear communication with cutting gangs and surveyors, seeking advice and assistance as required.

· Ensure regular and timely feedback to the Area Manager.

· To ascertain and gain permissions from third parties for vegetation clearance as required, educating and advising on operations as required.

· To maintain relevant documentation and PPE at all times, to support day to day operations and DNO audits and inspections.

· To approach and resolve any customer issues in a courteous and professional manner, escalating as appropriate.

· Represent bts Group in a professional and presentable manner; ensuring that your uniform and PPE remain neat, tidy and fit for purpose.

· You must carry ID with you at all times to be able to demonstrate to customers, landowners and members of the public who you are, alongside having permission to be accessing private land.

· Ensure that damaged or safety concerning network is reported through the appropriate system.

· Ensure the full and proper completion of all work related documentation is presentable and returned in a timely fashion.

· To assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of operational procedures within remit of operations.

· To be responsible for the maintenance of vehicle and equipment, updating relevant maintenance logs as required.

· To be responsible for own PPE and equipment used on a day to day basis, monitoring the condition and safety.

· Ensure personal passport and maintenance logs are monitored and kept up to date, including in date first aid, NGED Authorisation, CS, UA units and NRSWA, raising any anomalies with Area Manager.

SHEQ:

· Ensure that lone working procedures are adhered to.

· Complies with and actively promotes Company policies, procedures and standards

· Maintain an awareness of and conform to issued safety instructions

· Ensure that any concerns, accidents and near misses are suitably reported, in line with company procedures

· Update and conform to all method statements and risk assessments instructions as required.

· Maintain site safety at all times and complete daily risk assessments where required.

· Ensures company vehicle and equipment under area of responsibility are maintained to a clean and safe condition at all times.

· To work within the boundaries of personal training qualifications and experience.

Additional responsibility:

· Maintain and develop own competence in accordance with legislative changes and customer requirements

· Undertake all duties as required, in a professional and courteous manner, demonstrating best practice

· Actively promote and partake in team and company activities, by being flexible and willing to take on additional tasks and responsibilities as required

· Keep abreast of industry best practice in areas of expertise and strive to continually improve operations to deliver a superior service

· Actively partake in Continuous Professional Development, as industry and profession dictates, taking ownership of personal training & development to demonstrate full commitment to the scheduled programme of training and development for this role.

· Carry out additional and reasonable job related tasks as requested by your manager, in line with the needs of the business.

Principle working relationships:

· Direct and day to day operational reporting to the Senior Contracts Manager

· Liaises with staff at all levels within the company as required

· Liaises with any external bodies, companies and clients as appropriate to support business operations

Working conditions

· Predominantly lone working; adhere to risk assessments and guidance provided by the Health & Safety Advisor at all times.

· Primarily field based, operating from various UK site locations and traveling as required to suit the needs of the role and as business efforts dictate

· High risk working environment, involving working at height and in the vicinity of overhead lines, and as competencies held permit

  • The use of mechanised equipment as required and as training and competencies permit
  • Working in all weather conditions

Preferred Skills

Essential Criteria

· Broad tree identification and characteristics knowledge

· First Aid Certification

· UA 301, UA 302, UA 401 & 402

· Full UK Driving Licence

· Manual Handling Certification

· DNO Authorisation

· Excellent map reading skills

· Strong Communication skills

· Negotiating skills

· Able to work using own initiative

· Ability to work as part of a team

· To commit to own personal development, training and learning new skills to carry out all required duties

Desired Criteria

· Experience and knowledge of strict H&S operations and its practical implications

· Experience using Microsoft Excel

· Practical experience of Overhead Line Vegetation Clearance Lines works up to and including 132KV, with knowledge of:

- All aspects of vegetation clearance

- Relevant codes of practice

· NRSWA certification

· Lantra based tree inspection certificate

· Map Reading

· Time Management
