More on Tree Surgeon Apprenticeships, Arborist Apprenticeships and Trainee Tree Surgeon Jobs
If you are interested in becoming a trainee tree surgeon, then you may already have completed a tree surgeon apprenticeship and are looking to make the next step. If you are untrained in tree surgery, then some firms might still be willing to take you on and provide you with training whilst you work.
What is a Trainee Tree Surgeon?
A trainee tree surgeon is an official employee of the firm. As a trainee, you are being trained for the job you were originally hired for. Typically a lot of firms will have a trainee period during which the person is being evaluated after which an official decision to hire permanently is made.
Trainee programs often consist of a combination of theory and practical training with the aim of having the trainee learn about the company and job requirements from the ground up. Many trainees develop within a company to become key individuals within the business.
What is an Apprentice Tree Surgeon?
An apprentice Tree Surgeon differs slightly from a Trainee as the role is partly classroom-based. Apprenticeship schemes are incentivised by the government here in the UK, and the firm gets funding from the government to train and teach new workers in the field of tree surgery.
As such, the government requires that everyone who takes on a tree surgery or arborist apprenticeship partly study in a local college, where key performance markers must be met, very similarly to GCSE or BTEC studies.
