Arboricultural Consultant Wanted - Isle of Man

About the job

We’re looking for a dynamic, friendly and professional arboricultural consultant to join Manx Roots, a small but ambitious consultancy based on the Isle of Man.

You’ll be working alongside the company founder – a former climbing arborist turned consultant and trainer – to deliver high-quality, practical consultancy with a focus on the future. The role includes a mix of planning-related surveys and reports (AIA & AMS) for developers and architects, as well as tree risk assessments and management advice for government departments and large landowners. We manage some excellent sites and value depth over volume in our work.

This is an employed position, ideal for someone already delivering consultancy services or for an arborist ready to take the next step into consultancy with a Level 4 qualification or higher. While the role is based on the Isle of Man, we’re open to remote working for office-based tasks.

You’ll need to be computer literate, a confident communicator, and able to work independently. Experience with AutoCAD is a bonus, but not essential. Preferred Skills

• Essential:

  • Level 4 qualification (or higher) in arboriculture

  • Experience producing:

    • Arboricultural Impact Assessments (AIA)

    • Arboricultural Method Statements (AMS)

    • Tree Risk Assessments and reports

  • Strong computer literacy (e.g. Word, Excel, report templates)

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Self-motivated and organised

• Desirable:

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or equivalent drawing software

  • Experience with QGIS, drone use, or GIS mapping tools

  • Membership of the Arboricultural Association or a similar body

  • Background in tree work (climbing or ground-based)
