About the job

Arboriculture Technical Services Manager 

The key responsibilities will be to:

  • Manage our national arboricultural consultancy business in line with the highest professional standards, meeting safety compliance standards and ensuring delivery of the current & future budget.

  • Contribute fully to the effective planning and delivery of the consultancy activities

  • Facilitation of the compilation and review of client  reports independently or in conjunction with other surveyors.

  • Manage the ongoing professional development of our in house consultants including CPD & Upskilling.

  • Support the Regional Director in compiling and submitting bids for new business

  • Develop and maintain high quality relationships with clients

  • Provide technical advice to other parts of Glendale and The Parkwood Group

  • Produce reports as required relating to operational activity and business development

  • Safeguard and maximise the company’s image and credibility

  • Take responsibility for health and safety and actively participate in the maintenance and improvement of the overall Company Health and Safety culture

  • Ensure the maintenance of Quality Standards in particular the application of the Company Quality System. Ensure the Quality System is maintained to BS EN 9001 standard at the contract

  • Ensure the maintenance of Environmental Standards and compliance with the BS EN ISO 14001:1996 standard at the contract.

Skills & Competencies

The successful candidate will have an established track record as a successful manager, either self employed or working for a small / medium sized enterprise.

  • Strong client management skills with an eye of customer service and project delivery.

  • Ability to manage in a corporate environment, being primarily presponsible for budget, HR & business development.

  • Competent at managing a distrubuted workforce who are usually working alone in a wide range of both urban and rural settings, often within remote locations

  • Competent at  using a range of maps, schematics and navigational aids

  • Ability to plan, monitor and record their progress against agreed work programme

  • Experience of managing data capture within a variety of software platforms.

 

Qualifications

The post-holder may have a recognised tree surveyors qualification to Level 3 or above.

Applicants with vocational experience of equal level to the above will be considered.

Professional Tree Inspector Certification & QTRA registered user status would be ideal.

Other industry relevant and business management related qualifications are desirable.

Among the personal characteristics sought will be:

  • The credibility derived from a successful track record in management

  • Strong relationship building skills coupled with excellent communication skills

  • Able to work independently and as part of a close knit team

  • Financial and medium term planning skills as well as clear-sighted operational management awareness

  • A personality with presence and stature who is strong on planning and time management
