About the job

Location: Tadworth Surrey.

SJAtrees is a leading arboricultural consultancy in the south-east of England with two AA Registered Consultants and a team of other consultants and surveyors. A full description of who we are and what we do can be found on our website:

The role: The successful candidates will be issued with their own surveying kit and will be trained, in-house, to survey trees to SJA standards. Initially the candidates will be supervised and will accompany more experienced surveyors but before long will be able to undertake their own surveys. In the office, the role will involve working with Microsoft Office programmes and AutoCAD to prepare survey schedules and plans. Whilst the majority of the surveying work will be in relation to development (BS5837) it will also include tree risk surveys and supervision of works on building sites, as required, but full training will be provided.

Benefits: By the end of their first year candidates would be expected to be surveying effectively and producing plans and reports to the high standard expected by our clients. To help achieve this we will provide full support and training, including external courses such as the PTI certification and the TRA qualification where required. Starting salary will be up to £30k per annum subject to experience and qualifications, with performance related opportunities for career progression. We also offer regular in-house training, pension contributions, a PPE budget and 20 days annual leave (plus Bank Holidays).

This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidates who are looking for a career in arboricultural consultancy and the chance to progress to consultant, associate consultant or even senior consultant in time.

Requirements: Competency in tree identification, a full UK driving licence and the use of a car are the only essential requirements for these roles. However, candidates would need to fit into our team and a background of sound practical experience in arboriculture, a high level of formal education (A Levels and ideally university educated), the ability to think your feet and strong IT skills all advantageous.
