We are looking for eager individuals to form part of our team as skilled surveyors.
We are seeking a highly skilled Surveyor to join our expanding team. In this role, you’ll conduct precise site assessments, generate accurate reports, and support our vegetation management and arboricultural projects through detailed data collection and analysis. Your expertise will be vital in ensuring compliance with industry standards and operational efficiency
Location: Hybrid – STS office (Wootton Green, MK43), with regular travel across the Home County delivery areas
Contract: Full-time
Requirements: Full Clean Driving licence. Right to work in the UK.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to: Surveying Manager and Directors
Role specific:
- Conduct work site surveys and document findings, including highlighting risks.
- Responsible for assisting the site set up, respecting boundaries and signage
- Work from maps to understand work environment
- Liaise with customer, landowners and third parties on site access and work planning.
- Manage planning of worksites and requirements to conduct work in a safe manner.
- Resource and support (e.g. outage/Road Traffic Management) planning and communication with management
- Manging the planning of future works to be delivered.
- Understand & allocate resources / attributes / machinery to complete a job
- Conduct audits of completed work sites and document any findings
- Planning and delivering of utility shut down requests.
Company-wide:
- Visiting sites to monitor that all works are carried out as agreed
- Complete all checks on your own PPE and equipment each day
- Complete daily vehicle or equipment checks on any plant you drive or use
- Actively participate in the creation of risk assessments
- Complete activities in accordance with training
- Work safely and maintain awareness of the company’s safety policies and procedures
- Report dangerous occurrences and near misses
- Responsible for assisting the sit set up, respecting boundaries and signage
- Support colleagues, helping whenever it is required
- Be responsible for the safety of your team-mates and others within the site
- Work with other teams or subcontractors in support of the activities
- Participate in briefings, risk assessment and method statement creation
- Liaise and offer support to teams delivering work you have surveyed or visited
- Act as a point of contact for customers
Preferred Skills
Skills & Certifications:
The candidate will ideally have some, but not necessarily all, of the following as full training will be given:
- NPTC Utility Arboriculture Units UA1, UA 2.1, UA 5.1 and 5.2 or equivalent.
- 3-5 years’ experience in a similar surveyor job role, or experience as a Team Leader looking to retrain as surveyor.
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload and balance demands from numerous sources to ensure that all stakeholder needs are met.
- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships.
- Understanding of working around/with electricity in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
- Experience of leading teams and/ or coordinating the work of others.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent organisational, communication and planning skills
Benefits Offered
Salary Range: £35,000 to £45,000 dependent on experience
