Are you: An experienced and qualified Local Authority Tree Officer with a track record of working in Local Government or in another sector as part of an Arboriculture Career? If so then please read on for a great opportunity to join an award-winning, well-supported team and make a difference.

What you'll do: This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and expanding planning trees team with an interesting and varied portfolio of work in and around Greater Cambridge. This role will involve tasks and duties central to delivering our statutory duties as a local government team, including, but not limited to;

• Being a consultee on Planning Applications
• Assessing trees for Tree Preservation Orders
• Engaging with Ward Member and Parish Councils
• Completing Tree Work Applications
• Completing Hedgerow Removal Notifications
• Undertaking site visits across the Greater Cambridge area
• Supporting and working closely with the wider Natural Environment Team

South Cambridgeshire District Council currently operates four-day week working arrangements. A four-day week is when full-time staff work one less day per week (four days instead of five) but still get paid the same salary. The idea is that we get 100% of our work done, in about 85% of the time, for 100% of the pay. The purpose is to deliver an excellent service to residents - whilst better supporting the health and wellbeing of our colleagues. Read more about the four-day week at the Council.

We operate hybrid, flexible working practices with our team working from our offices in central Cambridge and Cambourne as well as remotely.
