Your New Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Arboricultural Project Manager (Highways) to join our Landscape Hub in the South West region of Scotland.

Our Landscape Hub works in partnership with other Amey accounts to internally deliver grounds maintenance services. Our primary work stream involves the delivery of grounds maintenance services on behalf of our facility management colleagues in Secure Infrastructure.

As an Arboricultural Project Manager, you will be responsible for the management of a range of Arboriculture Projects undertaken by Amey throughout Scotland and, principally, on the NMC South West Contract. This role would suit a candidate with an arboricultural inspection, supervision, and management background ideally within Term Maintenance Highways Contracts.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Undertake professional tree inspections.
  • Undertake woodland and vegetation surveys.
  • Measurement of works in accordance with approved methods.
  • Gathering and evaluation of information to provide complete and accurate presentations or reports.
  • Preparation of woodland management plans.
  • Evaluate operational methodologies and access constraints.
  • Assist in development of operational programmes.
  • Supervision and management of supply chain delivery.
  • Understanding and implementing delivery programmes, monitoring progress and mitigating change.
  • Providing day-to-day administrative support for operational activities.
  • Provide effective management services, ensuring that decisions are recorded, risks and issues are documented, and plans are maintained.
  • Ensuring knowledge management is promoted in the team and knowledge tools are updated, reviewed and utilised efficiently and effectively.
  • Translate complex information including contractual requirements and produce detailed summaries, including highlight reports.
  • Manage a suite of obligations and delivery tasks.
  • Liaison with team members.
  • Role will involve managing a defined team or undertaking a defined function.

We want to hear from you if you are/have:

  • Able to work across all of Amey’s Network Maintenance Contracts in Scotland.
  • An organised team player with the ability to communicate well with others.
  • Diligent and accurate worker.
  • Competent MS Excel and Word User.
  • Ability to work and consult with internal/external contacts at a range of levels in a constructive and helpful way, offering advice, as appropriate.
  • Ability to developing relationships with key stakeholders to establish trust, credibility and respect.
  • Able to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
  • Producing and coordinating clear highlight/status reports that convey an understanding of the key issues.
  • Be able to motivate other team members, set achievable objectives and take responsibility for providing constructive feedback.
  • Appropriate experience working on a trunk road maintenance contract or having successfully fulfilled a role of a similar nature

In addition to this, it is desirable to have the following:

  • Professional Tree Inspection qualification (Lantra).
  • HND or Degree level qualification in arboriculture or equivalent
  • Business or Project Management qualification is desirable but not essential
  • Strong entry-level candidates with appropriate qualifications may be considered.
