Lizard Landscape Design and Ecology, Worthing is currently seeking new team members to join our expanding environmental and arboricultural team. LLDE is an established environmental consultancy based in Worthing, West Sussex (nr. Brighton). The practice is a provider of arboricultural and environmental professional and technical support services for development projects to the private sector, local, and central government. We work with our clients by providing expert advice on arboricultural assessment to ensure that they clearly understand the impacts of arboricultural value and potential within the planning system and development practice.

LLDE is seeking a very enthusiastic and motivated Assistant or Consultant Arboriculturist to assist our Senior Arboriculturist and Practice Director with our portfolio of development and planning work. We are seeking an Assistant or Consultant Arboriculturist on a full-time basis to support the environmental team in delivering arboricultural services throughout the South-East and nationally. Candidates should have a background in arboricultural assessment and consultancy. The role and post would be great hands-on experience of all elements of arboricultural and ecological consultancy. LLDE would like to recruit an individual with a minimum of 1 - 2 years demonstrable experience in arboricultural consultancy with a competent knowledge of arboricultural and wildlife legislation, planning policy, report writing, and industry standard survey methodology. The role would allow a candidate to utilise their experience to be involved in a range of arboricultural and ecological assessments within the LLDE environmental team.

There will be opportunities to work on a diverse portfolio of projects as well the opportunity for career progression for the right candidate. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and of a positive disposition, with the ability to engage well with clients, colleagues, and assisting the leadership and direction of the LLDE environmental team.

The candidate shall be directly involved with arboricultural / ecology teamwork and the delivery of new and existing projects in the local area and occasional national projects; attending surveys, analysing data, reporting and implementing arboricultural mitigation measures and supervision to meet the specific project requirements, and liaising with project teams and advising clients at all stages of their projects from pre-planning to project delivery, in-line with their specific requirements.

The role shall include all areas of tree survey work, including undertaking BS 5837 surveys and reports; producing Tree Constraints Plans; Tree Retention and Retention Plans; Arboricultural Impact Assessment and Method Statement reports for development and planning projects providing high quality technical support and advice to our clients.

The candidate must have at least 2 - 3 years' experience within arboricultural consultancy. The position being offered is full-time and based at our offices in Worthing, West Sussex / and flexibly remotely.

Preferred Skills

The ideal candidate would;

· have a degree or minimum Level 3 Arboricultural qualification; FdSc Arb, HNC Arb, AA Tech Cert, NDip Arb with some consultancy experience;

· have a good knowledge of BS5837 and the planning system in relation to arboriculture;

· be competent in surveying trees for hazards, identifying pathogens and assessing tree physiology;

· be competent in preparing Tree Constraints Plans; Tree Retention and Retention Plans in AutoCAD / KeyTree;

· be working towards a LANTRA Professional Tree Inspection Certificate (PTI);

· be working towards membership of the Arboricultural Association;

· have good report writing and computer literacy skills.
