Waverley Borough Council’s main office is situated just off the High Street in Godalming at the Burys. We also have other sites around the borough, such as Farnham Memorial Hall. We currently employ around 450 staff who provide a range of services including housing, planning, refuse collection, recycling, public health, council tax collection, leisure facilities, playgrounds and parks as well as support for vulnerable people.

Do you want to be part of an experienced, enthusiastic and multi-disciplinary team responsible for managing and protecting the Boroughs treescape whilst ensuring the public’s safety and access to this key element of Greenspace?

Are you looking for a role with variety, where your expertise and experience will assist the Councils Tree & Woodland officer and team in the provision of arboricultural services?

Do your skills currently include a sound knowledge of tree species, tree safety, legislation, and an ability to negotiate effectively to achieve desired outcomes?

As a qualified professional with strong people and communication skills, you will have sound knowledge of undertaking tree works to industry standards and be conversant with the various aspects of tree risk management.

This is the perfect opportunity to come and develop further skills in those areas where perhaps you have not yet had direct experience and further develop your career.

Preferred Skills

• Level 4 qualification in Arboriculture
• Lantra Professional Tree Inspection Certificate
• Computer use i.e. Microsoft Office
• Familiar with BS3998 and VTA
• Familiar with relevant H&S and legal legislation related to trees & Arboriculture
• Experience in Tree Inspections
• Experience of managing contractors
• Good communication skills, verbal and written
• Proven negotiation skills and ability to manage conflict positively
• Able to prioritise workload and work un supervised
• Able to support others to achieve outcomes
• Ability to work to changing targets
• Ability to see issues from more than one point of view
• Understanding of and commitment to promoting equality and diversity in service delivery and employment
• Experience of dealing with the public in a calm and helpful manner
• Adaptable, flexible and able to take instruction
• Able to work as a team towards targets and goals
