About the jobChesterfield Borough Council seeks a skilled and experienced arborist to join the Green Spaces Team within the Commercial Services section. The arborist will undertake interesting and challenging arboricultural and silvicultural work across the Council parks, woodland estate, nature reserves, cemeteries and residential properties.
The successful applicant will join a professional team undertaking specialist tree care and woodland management using an extensive range of modern equipment and methods. This position offers the successful candidate the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge within a team committed to high standards in the management of trees.
All applicants must hold a full driving licence.

Preferred Skills•Tree identification skills.
•Working knowledge of, and skills in pruning to, BS3998
•Working knowledge of forestry/arboricultural machinery/plant.
•Ability to climb trees and perform aerial rescue.
•Ability to work on own or as part of a team.
•Ability to use own initiative / problem solve.
•Ability to prioritise works and work to deadlines.
•Understanding of Health & Safety at Work Act.
•Ability to interpret site plans
•Customer service skills
•Experience in all aspects of practical arboriculture.
•Experience of tree climbing and aerial tree operations
•Experience of tree pruning and felling.
QUALIFICATION / TRAINING
•City & Guilds NPTC Level 2 Award in Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross
Cutting (Formerly CS30)
•City & Guilds NPTC Level 2 Award in Ground Based Chainsaw Operator
(Formerly CS30 & CS31)
•City & Guilds NPTC Level 3 Award in Felling & Processing Trees over 380mm
•City & Guilds NPTC Level 2 Award in Tree Climbing and Rescue (Formerly
•City & Guilds NPTC Level 3 Award in Aerial Cutting of Trees with a Chainsaw
using Free Fall techniques (Formerly CS39)
