As an Arborist Ground Operative, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the outdoor areas we manage are safe, clean, and visually appealing for our clients, supporting us to be excellent at everything we do.

This role is being offered on a full time permanent basis

Expected hours: 45 per week 7am – 4pm

Excellent rates of pay dependant on experience

Your responsibilities will include:

  • To undertake the full range of arboriculture duties as instructed by your line manager as follows: felling, pruning, crown lifting, reduction work, thinning and rigging.
  • To work as part of a team with the aim of ensuring productive and professional relationships within the team, with other employees, managers, clients, and external agencies.
  • Ensure hand/power tools and arboriculture equipment, machinery and vehicles in your charge are secure, and in good working order, carry out routine maintenance and refer major mechanical problems to your line manager.
  • Report other defects/damage regarding the site to a line manager.
  • Participate in on-the-job or other training/development courses to improve ability and effectiveness to carry out duties and completion of training notifications.
  • Comply with all company and site procedures and regulations.
  • Ensure an efficient and effective response to incidents/emergencies and maintain effective liaison with colleagues and external services.
  • Ensure that you observe safety procedures and use safe working practices specifically regarding COSHH and Risk Assessments, reporting accidents and near misses to your line manager.

Specialist work: Alongside our conventional workload, G&T carry out many specialist works, including technical crane works, rigging and large take down operations, and HIAB and MEWP works.

  • City & Guilds NPTC Level 2, Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross Cutting 
  • City & Guilds NPTC Level 2, Felling and Processing Trees up to 380mm 
  • City & Guilds NPTC Level 2, Tree Climbing and Rescue 

Additionally you will have......

  • A passion for outdoor work and a keen eye for detail
  • Previous experience in an arborist ground operative or similar role essential
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills and a friendly, customer-focused attitude.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and seasonal demands
  • A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace
