Our lower mainland division serves the entire Greater Vancouver Area. VI Tree has established working relationships with Municipalities, Utility Companies, Road Contractors and Transportation Providers. We have implemented our skills and knowledge in the residential sector to develop a growing client base. The Company is currently seeking an experienced Arborist (ISA or working towards), to join our closely-knit group.

All applicants will be expected to perform all duties required as crew leader, including but not limited to:

  • mobilization and travel
  • commercial vehicle safety
  • inventory tracking & quality control
  • all daily digital documentation
  • all facets of tree care and vegetation management
  • client relations
  • basic maintenance and troubleshooting

Founded in 2014 by Co-Directors Troy Soderstrom and Martin Evans, VI Tree as a company was started with a combined experience of over 40 years in the industry, experience that grows day-in day-out. Both Martin and Troy hold many sought after credentials including; ISA Certified Arborist, ISA Qualified Tree Risk Assessor, Wildlife Danger Tree Assessor, BC Tree Fallers Endorsement, Certified Utility Arborist and more.

     With an attitude for success, Vancouver Island Tree Service has flourished into a team of more than 80 highly skilled employees from across Canada and Europe and New Zealand. We encourage growth and have a spectrum of experience ranging from 2 years to 25 years in the industry.      VI Tree specializes in Utility Vegetation Management, Spur-less Climbing Techniques, Hazard Vegetation Mitigation, Emergency Storm Response, as well as Municipal and Residential tree care. VI Tree provides reliable tree services for several of the islands' rural towns, gulf islands and School Districts.

     VI Tree has a fully functional division on Vancouver Island, as well as a fully functional division in the Vancouver area on the Mainland. The Utilities division is currently working in BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and the Territories.

     VI Tree emphasizes safety in every venture. From lacing up our boots to locking up after work, from record keeping to gear/vehicle maintenance, safety is paramount. Initiative to advance is an attribute that bodes well for all employees, seasoned or green.

     VI Tree operates forestry bucket trucks and chip trucks followed by 8/12 inch capacity wood chippers and uses 4x4 pickups to haul stump grinders and other light equipment.

     VI Tree has over a dozen Certified Utility Arborists and ISA Certified Arborists on staff as well as apprentices.

     VI Tree has in-house and field mechanics, servicing our equipment whenever possible.

     VI Tree takes initiative to conduct business as an ethical and environmentally responsible company, using only bio-degradable chain oil in our saws and bio diesel in our vehicles. VI Tree does not waste the organic material, the entire tree(s) is processed for one purpose or another. We use eco responsible paper in the office and do all our invoicing paperless via email. We work to ANSI A300 Standards for tree work and never use spurs when climbing trees that are to be retained.

     Vancouver Island Tree Service has Endorsed Tree Fallers, ISA Certified Arborists and Certified Tree Risk Assessors on staff. We promote the Industry Training Authority Arborist Apprenticeship Program, having 2 ITA Climbing Arborist Assessors on staff. The majority of our employees get signed up for the Arborist apprenticeship program, as VI Tree strives to excel as an industry leader.

     Vancouver Island Tree Service is a pre-approved contractor for BC Hydro and a proud BCFSC SAFE company.
