About the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to undertake the role of Improving (Second) Climber within Southampton City Council’s Tree Surgery Team.

You will possess a professional approach to tree management and impeccable working standards. You will work within a tree surgery team to provide a visible and responsive front-line service to the local community. Your work will help to make Southampton a safer, healthier, cleaner and more attractive City.

You will be competent and experienced in aerial tree work, the use of chainsaws and associated land-based machinery. You must have a full, clean driving licence along with a good level of fitness. A towing licence and a minimum of a Level 2 qualification in arboriculture is desirable.

It is essential for you to work outdoors, sometimes in poor weather.

  • The working hours for this role are 37 hours per week
  • This is a permanent position.   
  • Please note that appointments are usually made at the bottom of the salary scale.
  • This post requires a DBS check.
