A fantastic opportunity to lead and develop the existing high performing Arboriculture and Forestry department at Sparsholt College. The post holder will lead a team of lecturers and instructors in teaching and practical instruction on full-time and part-time courses at all FE levels in Arboriculture and Forestry. The successful applicant will have an appropriate qualification at FE level 3 or higher, together with significant practical experience and a recognised teaching qualification or be willing to work towards a teaching qualification.

The post holder will develop the curriculum area and its resources as well as lead the team in the continued improvement of standards in teaching, learning, pastoral care and the latest developments within the industry.

The college’s estate has 260 hectares which provide a range of opportunities for real-work environments for training and skills development. Resources include an arboretum, pinetum and Christmas tree plantation. Other department resources include timber extraction equipment, sawmill, chipper and stump grinder as well as a wide range of chainsaws and climbing equipment.

The department also utilises the strong links that they have built with local landowners to give experience in activities such as felling and aerial tree work. Learners utilise these resources to gain experience and skills to work towards their qualification

The Arboriculture and Forestry department has an excellent reputation, student numbers are circa 100 and are growing year-on-year. Many of our learners choose to live in college residences during the period of study, which enables us to cater for national and international applications.

There is a teaching requirement with this post up to 700 hours per annum.

This post is based at the Sparsholt campus.
