🌳 Join Our Team as an Arboriculture Officer 🌳 

Are you passionate about trees, urban green spaces, and making a lasting impact on your local environment? Crawley Borough Council is seeking a dedicated Arboriculture Officer to help manage and enhance our town’s diverse tree stock across parks, open spaces, public and housing land.   

🌱 About the Role: 

As Arboriculture Officer, you will play a key role in: 

·       Inspecting and assessing the health and safety of trees across the borough. 

·       Managing tree works and contracts, ensuring compliance with best practice and legislation. 

·       Advising on insurance and development proposals affecting trees. 

·       Supporting biodiversity and climate resilience through sustainable tree management. 

·       Co-ordinating the delivery of tree planting schemes and biodiversity initiatives. 

·       Engaging with residents, contractors, and internal teams to promote tree care and awareness. 

·       Providing advice, guidance and support to colleagues within the Council to deliver tree works and enhance the safety of Crawley residents. 

🌿 What We’re Looking For: 

·       A recognised qualification in arboriculture or a related field, preferably to National Certificate level 

·       Thorough knowledge of tree biology, pests/diseases, and relevant legislation (e.g. TPOs, BS5837). 

·       Experience in tree surveying and using GIS or tree management software. 

·       Excellent IT and report-writing skills. 

·       A proactive, collaborative person who is passionate about Crawley and efficient service delivery. 

·       A resilient individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment.  

·       A confident, assertive communicator who can solve problems and make decisions.

Salary - £30,102 - £34,721

37 hours per week:

7:00 to 15:00 Monday to Thursday
7:00 to 14:30 Friday

A flexible approach to these hours based on the demand of the service is expected and a TOIL system is in place to cover extra hours worked.

Occasional evening and weekend working may be required.

Essential User Car user allowance.

A full and current UK driving licence will be a requirement of the role.
