Barnsley Council have an exciting opportunity for two Tree Inspections Officers to join the team based in Barnsley. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £35,412 - £38,220 per annum.

Are you a highly motivated, experienced Tree Surveyor, wanting to join a forward thinking, dynamic, friendly and supportive Tree Service with their own in-house Arb team?

If so, Barnsley Council would love to hear from you. We have exciting opportunities for Tree Inspection Officers to join our growing team, helping to deliver an effective and efficient service, managing the health, safety and integrity of the Council’s tree stock and prioritising work in line with the Council’s Tree Management Framework.

Reporting to our Tree Inspection and Maintenance Manager, the post will require you to carry out both pro-active and re-active Tree Surveys assisted by a solid understanding of arboriculture, tree risk management and onsite tree inspection software.

To demonstrate the required level of knowledge and expertise you will have a Level 4 arboriculture qualification or significant experience of arboricultural work to draw upon, coupled with either a professional tree inspection qualification or equivalent extensive experience working as a Tree Inspector.

Empathetic and persuasive communication skills will also be beneficial, along with experience in a public facing role as you can expect to interact with members of the public, other officers, councillors and our in-house arborists on a daily basis.

You’ll also need to manage your own time, work independently, and be comfortable travelling across the borough in all weathers.
