We’re seeking an ambitious and technically capable Arboricultural Consultant to join our consultancy team on a part-time basis, under PAYE or sub-contract arrangements. You will deliver tree surveys and BS 5837s. You’ll provide high quality reports, client liaison and support for our survey / consultancy team.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake BS 5837:2012 tree-surveys (pre-development, domestic and commercial projects), produce full reports including constraints maps, tree schedules, root-protection-area calculations and arboricultural impact statements (where required).
- Carry out general tree condition, tree safety, health and risk benefit assessments as required.
- Provide professional written reports, correspondence and advice to clients (architects, developers, property owners, local authorities).
- Liaise with internal teams (estimating, operations, admin) and external stakeholders (planners, ecologists, clients) to integrate arboricultural input into project workflows.
- Preparing or reviewing arboricultural method statements (AMS), tree protection plans (TPP).
- Use IT tools/software (GIS/Mobile mapping/spreadsheets/CAD etc) to capture, analyse and present survey data.
- Maintain and build professional relationships, represent Eden Tree Specialists Ltd at client meetings/site visits when required.
- Keep up to date with arboricultural best-practice, legislation, standards (BS 3998, BS 5837, relevant guidance) and contribute to continuous improvement of our consultancy service.

Preferred Skills
- Proven experience in arboricultural consultancy with strong emphasis on BS 5837:2012 tree surveys.
- Arboriculture qualification (e.g., Level 3 or Level 4 in Arboriculture) or equivalent professional experience.
- Excellent knowledge of tree species, pests, diseases, site-work arboriculture and tree-biology.
- Full UK driving licence.
- LANTRA Professional Tree Inspector qualification.
- Experience of CAD/GIS or mobile survey/mapping software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills – able to produce clear, professional reports and liaise with a range of clients.
- Comfortable using IT tools (Word, Excel, Survey Software, GIS).
- Self-motivated, organised, able to manage your own time, travel to sites, meet deadlines and work with minimal supervision
