We are currently looking to recruit an ambitious, confident and passionate Senior Arboricultural Consultant to work alongside our existing team in our Studley, Warwickshire Office. You will undertake a wide range of site surveys across the UK and prepare reports to help our clients.

You will play a vital role in assisting our clients to deliver arboricultural strategies for projects, undertaking site surveys for development proposals, tree risk management and veteran trees. Ultimately, creating a balance between the natural and built environments.

To meet our needs, as a Senior Arboricultural Consultant, you will need to be to undertake BS5837:2012 tree constraints assessments, tree risk surveys and then prepare reports and plans. You will need to be an effective communicator both verbally and via email to enable our clients to easily understand technical and complex issues. It would be very helpful if you have had a minimum of 3 years of consultancy experience.

You will be involved in all areas of arboricultural consultancy, including:

  • Undertaking BS5837:2012 Surveys and preparing Arboricultural Impact Assessments (AIA).
  • Preparing Arboricultural Method Statements (AMS) and Tree Protection Plans.
  • Tree risk-benefit and condition surveys.
  • Ancient and veteran tree surveys alongside our Team.
  • Tree inventories and asset management surveys for large landowners and local authorities.

There may also be opportunities for the right candidate to assist with the following:

  • Undertake with advanced tree inspections including the use of decay-detection equipment.
  • Undertake climbing tree surveys as part of risk surveys or for bats alongside our Ecology Consultants (NPTC Climbing and Aerial Rescue CS38 will be required).

Preferred Skills

  • Have a minimum Level 3 Arboricultural qualification i.e., HNC Arb, AA Tech Cert, NDip Arb.
  • Have a full UK driving licence and your own car are essential as travelling is an integral part of the role.
  • Be computer and IT literate with experience in using Microsoft Office products (particularly Word and Excel), with good language skills.
  • Confident in undertaking a variety arboricultural surveys with a focus on BS5837:2012.
  • Ability to write a range of technical reports including Arboricultural Impact Assessments, Arboricultural Method Statements, and Tree Condition Reports.
  • Working with our arboricultural team, provide technical support to our clients to guide them primarily through the planning process.
  • Experience in managing and delivering projects including detailed and complex strategic development projects from start to finish.
  • Have a good level of tree, fungi, and pathogen identification.
  • You will need a good eye for detail to critically review and proof-read technical reports.
  • Assist with presenting at CPD events internally and externally to raise the profile of arboriculture at Wharton.
