You will work with various tree team members, and could have supervisory responsibility of up to 10 people. You will be the point of contact with our customers onsite, and conduct pre work surveys, risk assessments and end of day reporting. You will also be ordering materials on some occasions and responsible for job completion.
As a tree team member you will work and be an advocate of STS Industries Ltd policies and procedures.

- Adhere to STS Industries Ltd policies and proceduresAbout The Role We pride ourselves on offering a full range of tree surgery services. As a tree surgeon at STS Industries Ltd, you could be responsible for leading a team of arborists in the following tasks: - Pruning
- Removals
- Maintenance
- Tree care recommendations
- Assessing tree health
- Climbing trees using specialized equipment
- Adhere to industry standards and safety regulations BS3998:2010
- Manage tree climbing operations, leading climbers & ground crew
- Ensuring the safety of yourself and your team.
 It is important to note that this list isn’t exhaustive, and there may be others tasks that that aren’t listed, that you would be expected to carry out. Within the role you will also undertake: - Task completion of assigned system workflow tasks, in the quoted timeframes to an exceptional standard.
- Follow department or higher managements instructions and guidance on jobs; giving regular and appropriate feedback to the department manager.
- Support your staff and Management in a proactive manner, through your communications and actions. Resolving issues where able to and escalating where necessary.
- Adhering to policies, procedures and best practices when completing works and undertaking supervisor duties.
 About the Department The department is made up of up to 10 people, who normally work in teams of 2 people, including a lead. Some jobs could involve one person, and others could have the whole department working on them depending on the size and the need of the works. Collaborative working is essential. 
Preferred Skills
Skills & Experience Requirements
Ideally you will have at least 12 months experience in the industry. You will also;
- Be highly motivated and able to work to an extremely high standard of both safety and quality.
- Have a working knowledge of current arboricultural practices including legislation and guidelines around Health and Safety, LOLER, PUWER and WAH.
- Be willing to work as part of a team and take pride in their work.
- Have advanced tree climbing and rigging techniques.
- Leadership and team coordination experience.
- Extensive knowledge of tree biology, pruning techniques, and tree care practices.
- Proficiency in using climbing and rigging equipment.
- Safety management and risk assessment abilities.
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Customer service and client relations experience.
- Technical knowledge of arboricultural equipment and practices BS3998:2010.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
- Completing pruning, felling, shaping, planting of trees, stump grinding, etc. using full safety and climbing equipment and to BS3998:2010 or current standards.
- Ensure that work is carried out effectively to achieve quality and financial objectives, ensuring the safety of all members of staff and public at all times.
- Undertake tree works outside normal working hours as and when required in response to out-of-hours emergency call-outs.
- Management of all assigned tasks and events on our workflow management application within the allotted timeframe.
- Ensure works are completed in line with staff training, health and safety policies, industry and client standards and management instruction.
- Asking questions to management, and giving support and guidance to team members where required. Feeding back relevant information to your line manager regularly and in a timely fashion.
- Communicate with management, colleagues and clients appropriately sharing information in line with data protection.
- Assist in providing quotes and estimates for tree work projects.
Qualifications & Documents
Essential
- City & Guilds NPTC Level 2, Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross Cutting (CS30)
- City & Guilds NPTC Level 2, Felling and Processing Trees up to 380mm (CS31)
- City & Guilds NPTC Level 2, Tree Climbing and Rescue (CS38)
- City & Guilds NPTC Level 3, Aerial Cutting of Trees with a Chainsaw Using Free-fall Techniques (CS39)
- LISS Card
- Full Clean UK Driving Licence
- DBS Check
Preferred
- City & Guilds NPTC Level 3, Aerial Tree Rigging (CS41)
- Level 2 Qualification in Arboriculture
- Minimum of 3 years climbing experience
- Have relevant arboricultural experience
- NPTC Woodchipper
- NPTC Stump Grinder
- Extensive knowledge of tree biology, climbing techniques, and arboricultural practices.
