Contracts Supervisor - Arboriculture
About the job
As Contract Supervisor within the Arboriculture Division, your duties will include but are not limited to:
- Supervising day-to-day arboriculture operations across allocated sites and contracts.
- Coordinating work crews and ensuring tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to specification.
- Conducting on-site risk assessments, toolbox talks, and ensuring compliance with health and safety policies.
- Monitoring the quality and progress of work, resolving site issues as they arise, and reporting to the Operations Manager.
- Managing and supporting operatives on site, including overseeing attendance, performance, and adherence to procedures.
- Assisting the operations manager in keeping the client informed regarding site delivery and contract performance.
- Ensuring that all tools, equipment, and vehicles are used correctly, safely, and maintained to company standards.
- Completing required paperwork, reports, and site documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
- Liaising with other departments to ensure efficient delivery of works and resource coordination.
You may also be required to undertake other reasonable duties within your skillset as requested by the business.
Due to the nature of the work there will be an element of nightshifts involved in the role. These are pre-programmed and communicated well in advance.

Essential Qualifications & Requirements
- NPTC/LANTRA Tree Climbing and Aerial Rescue (CS38)
- NPTC/LANTRA Chainsaw from Rope and Harness (CS39)
- NPTC/LANTRA Aerial Tree Pruning (CS40) and Aerial Tree Rigging (CS41)
- NPTC/LANTRA Chainsaw Maintenance & Cross Cutting (CS30) and Felling & Processing Trees up to 380mm (CS31)
- Full UK Driving Licence (B + ideally BE trailer entitlement)
- Thorough knowledge of tree species, pests, and diseases
- Experience supervising arboricultural teams and coordinating site operations
- Understanding of health & safety legislation, LOLER, PUWER, and industry best practice (AFAG/FISA guidance)
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously
- Excellent communication skills for client liaison and team leadership
Desirable Qualifications
- Level 3 or above in Arboriculture or Forestry
- LANTRA Professional Tree Inspection (PTI) or equivalent
- First Aid at Work + Forestry First Aid (EFAW+F)
- SMSTS or SSSTS Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme
- LOLER inspection qualification
- Experience with contract management systems and reporting
